Recent improvements to the Infor VISUAL Data Interchange EDI gateway give you the opportunity for more productivity. This means more automation is possible, for example setting price look-ups means more time to scrutinize orders for the correct prices and discounts. Although these improvements benefit most, you must take note as to whether you are compatible.
Compatibility With Other VISUAL Products
Infor ERP VISUAL Enterprise version 7.0.0 is not compatible with the following products:
- VISUAL Quality 6.5.3
- VISUAL Enterprise for .NET 7.2, build issued in December 2010 or earlier
- VISUAL CRM 6.5.x
New Features
VISUAL Enterprise 7.0.0 introduces a multitude of new features to update the look and feel of the system, improve the Manufacturing Window, enhance Project processes, increase efficiency, improve accounting processes, and expand administrator privileges. The improvements are granular and incremental so major disruption of time proven processes can be avoided. Here are some examples:
- More fields can be exchanged. Some fields were also expanded
- Several data types now have different lengths to accommodate industry requirements
- Date field formats changed; from 8 (YYMMDD) to 14 (YYYYMMDDHHMMSS) characters and now include the time.
- ID fields for purchase contracts can be sent in Shipment Notices and Invoices (The Release Notes says, “You can use this ID in purchase orders and purchase requisitions to accurately price the items in the line table.”)
- Invoicing customers from Global Financials is more robust
- A new XML payment format you can use with SEPA credit transfers.
- Not included, but worth mentioning, is that direct connection to customers is effective and reliable so an EDI network is not needed.
Infor strongly recommends that you install the VISUAL upgrade of your application in a test environment for evaluation prior to updating the production environment. If you have customized code, it is recommended that your contact an EDI Specialist to coordinate upgrading the custom code before installing the new version into your production environment.
