GXS SecureLink Back in Action

It’s officially time to come back to GXS™ SecureLink! In the past SecureLink was only installed where there was a need for an extra level of protection from the outside world (i.e. a two firewall DMZ situation). Most companies opted out of this simply to save setup and hardware costs, but we now suggest rethinking that due to the new features of SecureLink 3.3.

Features
The most impressive new feature of SecureLink 3.3 allows you to set up a Database Polling and Fallback system that will continue processing and storing AS2 messages in the event that the BizManager application or database goes down. In other words, since AS2 is always “PUSH,” if the BizLink Server Service for Inbound Listener or the BizLink database is down, the messages will continue to be received and stored in a local database on the SecureLink Server. Once BizLink is up again, those messages are pulled from the SecureLink datastore. The benefit is that the customer never gets rejected AS2 because something is not working with BizLink.

If the server in the DMZ was down then the AS2 messages would still fail. However, these are typically much more stable than the BizLink Servers/databases because they are setup and left alone. No one is adding software or working on them daily.

Finally a reason why all BizLink/BizConnect installations that use AS2 should install SecureLink!
