Is It Time to Upgrade Your Gentran:Server?

IBM periodically evaluates their products and discontinues support for their older production versions.  Currently, IBM will no longer offer support for Gentran:Server for Microsoft Windows versions 5.0j and 5.1, Gentran:Server for iSeries version 3.4, Gentran:Server for UNIX version 6.0.2, and Gentran for z/OS version 6.4.

Data Communication Solutions (DCS) recommends users of IBM’s Sterling Gentran:Server for Windows move to the most current version to protect your company from losing valuable connections to your key customers.  Additionally, the cost of repair can become very expensive.  Our DCS EDI Specialists are well versed in Gentran:Server and can assist you with questions you have on continued support of your current version of Gentran:Server or discuss the steps needed to migrate to a current version.

The following are the most up-to-date versions available for migration.
• Sterling Gentran for zSeries 6.6
• Sterling Gentran:Server for iSeries 3.6
• Sterling Gentran:Server for Unix 6.2
• Sterling Gentran:Server for Windows 5.3
• Sterling Gentran:Server for Windows (Japanese) 5.2j

If your system is operating slower or fails intermittently, you’ll want to consider exploring your upgrade needs.  Contact DCS today to learn more.  We can provide you with an accurate cost for an IBM license, plus an estimate to migrate it to a Windows 2008 server or Virtual Machine (VM) partition.
