Classical EDI and Standardized XML Mix for E-Business Suite

Oracle E-Business Suite users now need both classical EDI (X12) and standardized XML (GS1 or OAGi) to link together their supply chain for both customers and vendors. Three choices are available:

  1. EDI Gateway – exports a positional file or to a temporary table from which an EDI system (purchased from another) creates classical or XML files (The reverse occurs for inbound documents.)
  2. XML Gateway – exports an XML file, which must be reformatted by a middleware  to the different XML format needed by the customer or vendor. The XML output for a document is comprehensive, the middleware changes the format to the specified and does not send unwanted data.
  3. Custom Extract-Transfer-Load

A typical document exchanged with a Trading Partner has about 75 fields and about 5 look-ups.  Additionally, process control and error reporting must be set.  These are daunting tasks.

To achieve effective and economical integration, DCS can set the first few customers and vendors, then you can add others. DCS’ GROW™ service delivers prompt and timely completion of your EDI and E-Commerce development projects for vendors, transporter, insurers, and government.

Check out our easy-to-use E-Business Suite Tip Sheet that shows you each module and its corresponding transaction set can readily be automated as standard and accepted by your Trading Partner.

*As an Oracle Gold Partner, DCS will be attending Oracle OpenWorld 2013 from September 22-26 in San Francisco, CA at booth number 3421.
