“All in” the Cloud with Oracle

EDI has rapidly evolved with newer technology allowing its access to be as simple as opening an email, especially with the development of cloud computing. With these advancements, cloud storage has taken off, especially with Oracle.

EDI used to only be accessed through a server, but now you have the option to move your server to the cloud. The choice is yours alone as your EDI will function the same in either location.

A hosted solution means a choice of two configurations:

  • EDI and AS2 systems are installed in the cloud (direct connections from the cloud to your customer)
  • A connection to a managed services provider. (Oracle in the cloud works with EDI systems such as IBM Gentran:Server, Sterling B2B Integrator, and GXS BizLink)

The most common issue with cloud computing has to do with the high price of using an EDI network (VAN). Do not be deceived by Software as a Service (SaaS) who says you must do EDI translation (EDI gateway to X12) with them. It is much more expensive because there is a rental fee either monthly or per document. If you connect directly from the customer to the cloud there is more profit to be had.

When moving EDI to the cloud, DCS provides:
