As an integral part of its continual improvement process, Walmart is making improvements in its EDI process. As you know, testing is fundamental and Walmart is doing an excellent job testing before contacting vendors. Unfortunately, no testing process is perfect. Data Communication Solutions (DCS) sees some mini-glitches that are important.
For example, a file labelled 850/Purchase Order contains 860 P.O. Change data. A mislabeled file will not load, causing an abortion. This is critical because it will not go away. It’s different than a problem caused by human error. For example, an out-of-date price is a human error that self-corrects.
DCS suggests that you consider current Walmart errors from the perspective of system or human error.
