Amazon has discovered on issue with their AS2 Software that will require and emergency deployment of their AS2 software on December 8, 2015. As a result Amazon will be rebooting their AS2 server on December 8, 2015 between 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. PST/PDT. This will be a staged deployment per host meaning that there should not be any downtime to their server.
As Amazon’s AS2 servers run on the cloud, rebooting Amazon’s AS2 servers will cause the IP address to change. AS2 software by default caches the IP and will cause timeout issues when you are attempting to send them documents. Therefore, the external facing IP address is subject to change within the published range. Setting your TTL (Time To Live) for the DNS cache appropriately will expire the results and force a DNS look-up periodically. This will ensure continued connectivity.
Java-based AS2 servers: If you use a Java-based AS2 server, add ‘-Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=60’ (without quotations) to your start-up script to protect against future IP address changes.
All other AS2 servers: If you are not using a Java based AS2 server and your AS2 server caches DNS results, please contact your AS2 provider for assistance to setup your DNS caching options correctly.
Please verify that you have made the above configuration changes. Restarting your AS2 server should also resolve this issue temporarily.
The following are Amazon’s firewall settings for EDI messaging. These IP ranges in CIDR notation. Please ensure the entire ranges are white-listed. Be sure to check if you have white-listed the following IP ranges in your firewall settings:
107.21.95.224/27
107.21.95.192/27
You may also need to open port 80 if you filter outbound traffic.
Other than the DNS caching issue, there should be no impact to you with this deployment. If you experience any issues other than the ones stated above, please contact Amazon immediate using the contact us form in Vendor Central. Amazon will be monitoring this closely for any connection related issues.
