More than the data; else hundreds may be idle
There are many “moving pieces” in an EDI system. Any changes to the “Computing Infrastructure” need to be evaluated. For example, does all EDI move through one server? If so, what happens if the server is unexpectedly stopped? What will be the impact on EDI, if a firewall technician accidentally closes a port? Or, how do you learn your EDI server needs to be rebooted? Since EDI is with key customers and visible to the C level, it is mission critical.
It makes sense to have your configuration checked and the failure points clear. Then you can decide if modifications are needed.
