The Business Need

American Licorice Company is a manufacturer of candies including Red Vines and Sour Patch. They reached out to Data Communication Solutions (DCS) because they needed to integrate JD Edwards (JDE) with X12 210 (Motor Carrier Freight Details and Invoice) documents for their 3PL trading partner. The 210 transaction set can be used to provide detailed information for charges and services rendered by a motor carrier. It is used both as a motor carrier invoice to request payment or details pertaining to motor freight shipment charges. American Licorice uses Biz for its EDI mapping and connections. DCS EDI Specialist Beverly Ramey was in charge of the project.

The DCS Solution

In order to set up the 210 map, DCS first reviewed specs from American Licorice’s trading partner. We then went through the map to get all of the appropriate segments checked and mapped. American Licorice was then able to test and get the map up and into production.

DCS was able to do mapping for various documents and created templates for their documents as we worked on the different transactions. This will make adding trading partners and documents more efficient for American Licorice moving forward.

The Result

Thanks to DCS’ work with the initial 210 setup, American Licorice has decided to continue to work with DCS moving forward. We have worked on mapping for several of their trading partners. By working with DCS, American Licorice can ensure that their EDI is good hands, giving them extra time and peace of mind.

DCS has found EDI solutions for many companies through the years, including many in the food and beverage industry like American Licorice. Check out more of our case studies to see how many companies we’ve helped out. To learn more about how be can benefit your organization, contact us today!
