Rockwell Automation Adds New Data Elements to EDI 850

Effective February 1, 2014 Rockwell Automation has updated their Purchase Order 850 SAP EDI specification by adding two new data elements for their FOB05 segment:

  • DAP – your company bears the risk until successfully unloaded at your customer.
  • DAT – stops your company’s responsibility at the transporter’s terminal.

What does this mean for your company?

Rockwell is amending the standard for the 004010 version by adding these set of permissible codes. An exception in your EDI may be needed to permit these codes to be valid and prevent errors. Your DCS EDI Specialist can assist you to ensure that you are in compliance with Rockwell.

About FOB

FOB (Free On Board) is where the ownership of the goods has shifted to your customer. In practical terms, it determines who pays for the damage to the product during the shipment. A claim for damage is usually filed with the transporter, which is time consuming and error prone.  Your company can reduce your risk by negotiating this change, usually stated in the Purchase Order (850).
