Club Stores Order Processing Automated to Speed Fulfillment

JDEdwards World™ and EnterpriseOne™ (v. 8.11) and Inovis’ TrustedLink™ for the IBM Series i™ are a match made in heaven. They integrate with very little custom coding. This means TLi users upgrading to E1 do not have to purchase a new EDI system. The known reliability of TLi EDI and the customer's years of experience with TLi encouraged this chemical company to link it to E1 for EDI. DCS provided the expertise to guide the project, help them become self-reliant, and provide some mapping assistance.

Overview

A DCS customer’s INbound Customer Sales Orders (850) needed to be integrated into JDE on an AS/400. The problem was meeting the requirements of the club store customer without any interruption in the order flow. Additionally, due to a change of personnel, training in the TLi and the JDE e-commerce gateway was needed.

DCS conducted on-site training which included working on the maps needed for the inbound 850 and outbound 810. No time was lost converting the training to their own situation, since all work for the class was done in the customer’s own test environment. A review of the e-commerce set-up for inbound sales orders completed the training, and left the customer ready for thorough testing with their partners.

Result

DCS and the user jointly solved this challenge to meet customer requirements without interruption. An additional benefit of the on-site training was a review of existing EDI issues and suggestions for improvements.

This DCS customer now has sound EDI capabilities and is self-reliant as new requirements and customer demands arise. As a plus, the new processes take fewer people to process and monitor. EDI specialists with extensive knowledge of JDE and TLi for EDI kept the cost lower due to experience with technical challenges. DCS continues to be available for same day support when needed.
